Oracle has continued its buying spree by snapping up online identify software firm Bharosa for an undisclosed sum.

By Madan Sheina

Bharosa is based in Santa Clara, California, and develops software used to combat online identity theft and fraud. The company recently claimed to have surpassed 25 million users for its software which is sold either as an enterprise or per user license.

Bharosa’s products are popular in the financial services, e-commerce, healthcare, and government sectors.

Oracle said it will continue to offer Bharosa’s Tracker and Authenticator software as a standalone offering as well as integrate it into Oracle’s own identity management and web-based authorization suite.

Tracker and Authenticator are in their fourth major release cycle, adding new features like customer intelligence and one-time PKI capabilities or mobile authentication.

The company also develops voice verification software and tools to track users of enterprise applications

Bharosa, which means “trust” in Hindi, is privately held and has taken about $2m in external funding.

The deal is expected to close sometime in August.
